Note: This volume takes into consideration the cultural and artistic exchanges between the Ligurian capital and its ''cousins'' from beyond the Alps, strengthened over the centuries by the long succession of economic and mercantile flows. Eleven Italian and eight French-speaking scholars delve into the most varied aspects of an uninterrupted history of relationships marked by evident cultural reciprocity, within a period of time ranging from the end of the 12th century to the first three decades of the 20th century. The volume, which stands out for the richness of its critical and iconographic repertoire, was published in conjunction with the 2004 celebrations, which saw Genoa as the capital of culture in Europe.
