Note: La Civiltà Cattolica is a magazine of the Italian Jesuits, considered prestigious in the panorama of Catholic magazines. The Jesuit Father Carlo Maria Curci was its inspirer and first director. The idea that led him to found the magazine was to defend "Catholic civilization", as it was conceived at the time, threatened by the enemies of the Church, in particular by liberals and freemasons, who were inspiring many of the cornerstones of Risorgimento Italy. .The first issue came out on April 6, 1850.
