Note: For years, a group of former high school friends has usually met in a café to share dreams and disappointments, projects and battles. The leader of the group is Kelemen, who, by chance, discovers that an old, rather mediocre schoolmate of theirs, Ionio Kàdàr, has made his fortune in South Africa, where he owns villas and leads a comfortable life. The group decides to write him a letter, to the address that appears in a photo, to invite him to Budapest and deceively take advantage of his power and wealth. A few years earlier, after the First World War, Ionio had returned to his relatives in Budapest with only one desire: success. His fleeting love affairs with a Hungarian girl and his job as a postal worker didn't satisfy him. He had gone to Vienna, where in addition to love he had found a cultured young man who had taken him to London. And here, after the death of his friend, penniless, he had seduced the rich landlady who would take him to South Africa. The meeting in Budapest between the poor Kelemen and the rich Kàdàr with his wife will be fatal. And the meeting between Kàdàr and Kelemen's young sister will be fatal. Their lives will change forever.
