Note: Il Giornale de' Letterati was one of the oldest Italian magazines ever. The first issue was published in Rome on 28 January 1668 by a group of intellectuals (among whom we remember Michelangelo Ricci, Salvatore Serra, Francesco Nazzari and Giovanni Giustino Ciampini) who, on the model of the Journal des sçavans and the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society both appeared in 1665, they planned a magazine with reviews of new books appearing abroad. The members were obliged to provide summaries of works in foreign languages published in Europe; Nazzari himself would take care of the news coming from France, Salvatore Serra the others.
The topics covered in this year are of literary, philosophical, historical and scientific-medical interest and are all very interesting, curious and some unpublished. We mention a few:
Costanzo Amichevoli, Civil architecture
Eduardo Bolnesto, Aurora Chymica
Placido De Titis, Physio-mathematics…..
